Her 4th trip to Brec's Baton Rouge Zoo

Image
A rotating globe fountain awaits guests few meters away from the main entrance. The lil one was talking to one of the many tigers in the zoo.  One of the biggest fish aquariums in the zoo.  @ the zoo's playground.  The best amongst the activities in the zoo, the train ride.  Had trouble with the lil one when the train stopped.  She didn't want to go home yet and just wanna have a ride again. Taking picture before the train ride. Fell asleep on the way home. Exhausted she is!

For the love of makeup

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of BH Cosmetics . All opinions are 100% mine. I love wearing makeup that leaves a powerful effect  on both me and the appreciative men. I like it when the palettes blend so perfectly on my skin color. There are makeups in the market that instead of making you look beautiful or enhancing your beauty, it makes you look like you are attending a costume party. Overpowering foundation that doesn't blends on the skin and can easily be washed-off with tears, not good if you are attending a wedding or any party with crying moments. I have had a couple of experience in the past and one was on my wedding day. The foundation that was applied on me by a friend had me looked like a ghost in a white wedding dress. That was so embarrassing! Til now, I hate to look at my wedding pictures, thus, I wanna be wed again for the second time to the same man to fix the problem, and of course, have our vows blessed by the Catholic Church. An online pal o

Watery Wednesday : Territory

Image
Watery Wednesday  entry number 2. Alligators' man-made habitat in Brec's Baton Rouge Zoo. The territory of two (?) alligators. This one is huge in size and is fenced in.  Just a trivia! Did you know that the zoo is open all-year-round beside Christmas New Year and Thanksgiving? Gotta love the zoo for for that!. Kudos to the people behind it.

Best gift a child could ever have

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of CryoCell International . All opinions are 100% mine. Saturday afternoon, I came home from home decor shopping. The hubby opened the door for me and helped me with the stuff I bought. I knew I noticed something in his eyes but didn't want to ask him about it. Was he crying while I was gone shopping? I just left myself with a conclusion that the lil one poked him in the eyes that's why it was reddish and kinda sore. Later that evening, hubby opened up to me. Yes he cried. He was watching football and then during the half-time report, a cancer patient's life was featured. The hubby's heart was crashed upon seeing the child's difficulties in battling the most horrifying disease, cancer. He's thankful that the lil one is so healthy in her two years of life and hoping  that her it'll continue that way. Hubby's story reminded me of my plan of having the lil one's umbilical cord banked then. Sadly, i

Watery Wednesday : Bird bath

Image
Watery Wednesday  entry number 1. The biggest bird bath I've seen. This is located at Brec's Baton Rouge Zoo. Took the photo a couple of weeks ago during our visit. The mngt. made it possible for the guests to walk in a man-made cage (maybe) to interact with  a few species of birds like pigeons. The birds would just walk by you and are not scared at all. Maybe because they are so used to the visiting public or maybe they are trained.  Visiting the zoo is so worth it after seeing tons of animals and learning  facts about 'em.

Are you ready for the move?

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE . All opinions are 100% mine. Growing up in the Philippines is something that most children won't choose because of the far off of the latest technology. I am not saying that nobody in my homeland owns the latest gadgets or game stations. It's just that only  few can afford. As per my experience, I did not grow up with numerous toys around. It made me wish before to have everything that I saw on TV but my parents couldn't afford to buy six toys at a time. Thus, day dreaming rescued my wishful thinking and somehow made it to reality even for a minute or two. Now that I have a lil one, I want her to have most, if not all, the educational toys that she could possibly want. Regardless of price, hubby and I are working hard to give it to her. In fact, hubby has been eyeing for a PlayStation® Move , a perfect Christmas present for the family. PlayStation®Move is actually a combination of the PlayStation®3 s

LSU night @ the grannys

Image
Two grandchildren, Dannielle and Easton, disturbing their granny. Poor old woman couldn't resist her favorite grandchildren and had to give 'em attention  ignoring LSU on the huge television screen. It was Saturday night, LSU football night, and the whole family including kids watched the game at the in-laws. Indeed, a great night spending time with everybody but some were not happy and I am talking about the men in the family. Watching football game with lil kids is definitely not a good idea. The men, who are die-hard LSU fans kept on complaining about the kids interrupting terribly. Since I am not into football, I helped in watching the kids by taking them away from the living room. I did drag ;-) them to the in-laws bedroom, turned the tv on and put the two of them in the bed. Good thing that the bed is kinda high, scared them to get down. Come Saturday, we'll be riding again to the inlaws to watch LSU tigers play football. I am crossing my fingers on the toddlers

Getting ready for the cold season

Image
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rambler's Way Farm . All opinions are 100% mine. Cold season is just around the corner here in the South, thus, preparing for it is what I have started on doing. I already took the winter clothes back in the closet including sweaters, jackets, coats, boots, gloves and scarves. Since I gained weight, some of the clothes  snug on me which means I am in need of a few sweaters specifically. Early this morning, I went shopping online. I made purchases of sweaters and jackets from various stores such as the Rambler's way where  wool  products are created comfortable and warm on one's the body, great enough for all season use. The products are actually made in America which means high quality is rest assured. The best thing is that, Rambler's way is helping in the preservation of Mother Earth through the material they're using. Anyways, I did buy a couple of long johns and henley long sleeves for me. For the hubb

The lil one @ Jump n Jive

Image
It was her first visit at Jump n Jive and she had a blast.  It's been a while since she haven't been to a fun center and when she saw it again, her excitement was beyond the highest inflatable in the building. Jumped here and there. Climbed  up, slid down. Ran. Jump n Jive hosts parties and events for kids ages 10 and below everyday besides Tuesday and Thursday, days alloted for open play. For open play, each kid pays $7 for ages two to ten and I think $4 for two below. Wearing socks is a must. Open play is open from 10 in the morning til 4 in the afternoon. Here are the photos that I kept on forgetting to share with you guys. Been sitting in my dashboard for so long, finally, it's up! The play area  in the right side of the building. I believe this is for smaller kids .  Inflatable slide. The lil one's favorite, the bouncer and slide And here she is with a new found playmate on the same bouncer. Far view of the same inflatable.

Newest house helper

Image
.  The lil one found the broom in the utility room when the hubby left it unclosed. She was saying, "mocking mommy clean", while moving it  back and forth freely.  I wonder how much dirt she'd cleaned up? Before the lil one came in, I depended on my broom (bought from the Oriental store, Vihn Phat, in Baton Rouge)  but since her coming, vacuuming the floors and all is what I do often. It is time-consuming as I go through all the corners of the house sucking all the dirt and alien stuff for the lil one's safety.  Though, there are instances when I couldn't do the job for some reasons. Hence, broom comes rescue me. I don't sweep the whole floor anyway, just the areas where the lil one stays a lot.   Over-protective...that's how American parents describe me. I could care less. As much as possible, I  want my daughter to live in a clean house, unlike the one's they have. Did you know that I don't allow shoes in my house? Well, guests could   d

Perfection is satisfaction

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Glidden . All opinions are 100% mine. House, oh how I love to talk about my own house especially the transformation I've done since living here for three years now. It fills my day when I hear people  complimenting me about how clean and well-arranged my house is. The husband's friends who've been in and out here are pretty amazed on the progress, too. They are the ones who could exactly tell because they've witnessed how the hubby lived when he wasn't dating anybody. The house was cluttered, with no updates done. Since my coming, lots of projects were accomplished. Walls are painted with warm colors. Thanks to Home depot credit card, I was able to purchase four gallons of Glidden paints. I needed no paint testers, by the way. As soon as I saw the sample colors on this piece of paper, I instantly said my yes to the gray (with a touch of green) color. Being in a tight condition compelled me to do all the painti

Potty training done easy

Image
In three consecutive days of potty training the lil one, I must say that she learned so fast. If before I had trouble asking her sit on her potty chair, now she just does it with no command at all. She sits when she needs to. The lil one on her potty chair.  She asked me to take a picture of her (picture me, mommy!) the morning after waking up, so, I had to hurry and grab my camera before she changes her morning mood. Smiling when I told her to show her teeth.  Lots of lots (the lil one's phrase) of suckers as initial motivator. On the first day, she would only sit down  if there's a sucker in her hand. So, hubby bought her a huge bag of suckers just to motivate her, that she'll have more if she pees in the potty chair. It worked! Now, these suckers are of no use. I had to get rid of these  before it decays the lil one's teeth or the hubby's. Pee sound. One thing that excites the lil one to use her potty chair everytime the nature calls is that the sound of

Vegetarian recipes for the non-cooks

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of goviral . All opinions are 100% mine. I love cooking and baking, unluckily, I don't have the skills of culinary perfection. I do know how to cook some of the basics that need no recipes. Everytime I want to eat something special, I got to rely on recipes that I could get the exact taste, well not really the perfect taste and appearance, but at least, better than my version. Recipes are very helpful. It aid a person like me to cook like a pro, or at least close to a professional cook's masterpiece. The more thankful I am when I found a recipe book for healthy cooking that has a large variety of meals and snacks. Great enough for the lil one who loves to explore on various foods specifically vegetables. I got to tell you that this new recipe book, The Qourn, is purely vegetarian which means healthy living. The videos below will give you  ideas on how to prepare some of the recipes included in the book, The Qourn. I haven&

Proud Pinoy in the land of the free

Today, I received a forwarded e-mail from an attorney friend who is also a current Councilor in the city of Koronadal, Philippines. The said e-mail made me more proud to be a Filipino despite all criticisms and write-ups against a recent tragedy (hostage drama at the Quirino Grand Stand) that puts an exclamation point between two nations (Philippines and China/Hongkong). I am ashamed  of my fellows with a blood and tongue like mine who does nothing to uplift his own rather than practice crab mentality. Wake up, Pinoys! Support each other! The forwarded email reads below.

The most coveted license

Image
Third Friday of August this year, I took my driver's license test. Part of that was the vision test among traffic signs, knowledge and road skills tests. Before I was given the nod to take the knowledge test, I had to submit necessary documents such as state ID and greencard. When the needed information was validated, the DMV officer asked me to place my forehead unto this machine designated for eye or vision test. Of course, I got my prescription glasses on. After following a few instructions from the officer, the said test was over. I PASSED! I then headed to a room where the computers are for the knowledge test. It took me fifteen minutes to finish that tough test. I PASSED again. So the driving skills test comes after. It rained! Tsk! No driving skills test in the rain as per DMV policy. So ok, hubby and I went back home and decided to take the test on the next Friday. Came Friday (the fourth Friday of the month), hubby and I with the lil one drove back to DMV so early in t

Kid in the shoes

Image
This is what happens when the hubby forgets to close the utility door or put his shoes up. The lil one  rapidly grabs it and put the shoes on.  Hmn...I wonder what's  wrong why she's having that facial expression. She's saying, 'HELP, mommy!" Oh no, just look how she wears the shoes. No wonder she can't walk straight. LOL. Oh boy, being with the lil one every single second is just a joy. She has a natural wit and humor. Strangers? forget about it because she meets no strangers at all. She talks to just everybody. One time we were at the convenience store for some snack shopping and she talked  to an old man. The hubby signaled to take her out and so I did. In the car, I asked the hubby why he reacted that way. I was so shocked when he told me that the old man is a sex predator. As a cop, hubby knows who's who are blacklisted. I could not believe that I'd let my daughter talked to  that person who could have hurt someone her age.    Since that incident

Education for the fulfillment of dreams

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC . All opinions are 100% mine. An onlinepal of mine just had her first day of school last Tuesday. She's so ecstatic about her being a student. On her blog, she showed photos of the stuff that she'll be using till the semester is over. As a friend, I am so happy for her partly because she is starting to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. My friend is just one of the many moms that think education should not put into a long hold because of the responsibilities as a parent. We, moms should consider continuing education like enrolling to an online school to earn a college degree or a masters degree perhaps. It is not too late to pursue such. I am aware that going back to school is way to heavy in the pocket but there are schools around that offer tuition reimbursement program just like the The USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT@USC. Moreover, The USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT@USC is an internationally reno

To the sister who means the world to me

Happy, happy birthday to you, dear sisterette!  May all your aspirations come true. I already saw how you are as a sister and there is no better way to say than continue being one.  You know I love you and have said it so many times.  Take care!

Haagen-Daz' Passion Profiles Series

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Haagen Dazs . All opinions are 100% mine. Music, oh how I love thee. I can not just easily disregard this passion of mine, trust me on that, and I would make it a point to leave  footprints of my singing legacy in the memories of my friends and family. Yes, I do love to sing, not as good as those high-caliber recording artists  like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion or Taylor Swift though. In fact, I uploaded videos of me singing on You Tube. So far, I am satisfied with the way viewers responded to my videos and of course, my ability to sing. As far as I can remember, music is in my blood. My Uncles and Aunts, both maternal and paternal sides, are very much into music. They were into local bands when they were young. They do still play and sing up to this date  but no more gigs in clubs or bars, just in their own respective homes. I learned to play the guitar by myself with the inspiration of my beloved Uncles. When singing is th

Her first Kool-Aid

Image
One of the many things that I am afraid for my daughter is her to grow up fat. You know how much criticisms huge people get when they go out in the public and I don't want it to happen to the lil one, to be humiliated  by the non-appreciative beings. Her being healthy and a normal kid are just amongst the many wishes I have. Thus, I don't train or teach her to have a sweet tooth. Her everyday meals include fruits, vegetables and rice of course with tons of water. I do give her a cup of juice a day as suggested by her pediatrician. No candies nor chocolates nor cakes nor ice cream. Am I depriving her of those comfort foods? I may say I am as they bring no good to one's health. Her first taste of Kool-Aid punch.  Thus, mommy took a picture of her holding a bottle of a tempting punch for kids to add to her book. So last Saturday, hubby brought himself a pack of six bottles of Kool-Aid punch. He said he's just gonna try 'em. The lil one saw him sipping and so  ask

Coupon codes by my side

Just the other day, I had so much fun online shopping. I frequent this certain online store for awhile waiting for clearance sale to flash into my eyes. Last Monday, I surely hit the jackpot and bought a lot of clothings with tags 70% off the regular price. Gifts for my family in the Philippines filled my shopping bag, only a few pieces for the lil one and none for me and the hubby. I spent around eighty bucks including shipping and tax. Supposedly, the over all amount was a hundred bucks and cents but then I used the coupon code I found at Savings.com coupons . Glad I did search for coupons, as I normally do,  before I did check my items out. Sometimes, I'd rather shop online if I am buying for my family or for  the lil one  and not  for myself. I love to spin the crowded stores sorting the clearance racks for great stuff. I could care less either if there is a queue to the fitting room. I can wait and fight for the traffic if it's for me. And yes, I usually bring store coup

Rolls

Image
Well, I was craving for doughnuts earlier but couldn't drive to the store, so, I thought of making some. Since I am watching my weight, fried foods are a No-No, thus, baked. My first attempt was a failure. The first few doughnuts didn't come out great. It was kinda burnt and stiff. Tsk! I really can't bake! I was dismayed and was about to throw the dough but saw a photo of cinnamon rolls posted by a dear friend of mine in Facebook. Blessing in disguise! Why not try it?  Instead of pushing through my plan, I then made a few rolls with cinnamon, cheese and ube fillings. My version of ube and cheese rolls.  So yummy especially the ube (purple yum) roll. Haven't tasted the other flavors yet as I still am full from eating the former.

Tapioca baby

Image
Patiently waiting for the tapioca pearls to cool minding not the cool temperature coming from the freezer.  See her reaching for it? She's checking if it's ready or not.  Now I have a rival when it comes to eating Tapioca Pearls ( A starch extracted from the root of the plant species Manihot esculenta. A gluten free, and almost completely protein free food according to Wiki ) in the presence of my two-year-old girl. Every afternoon, I make it a point to cook tapioca pearls ( bought from Oriental store). The lil one asks for it in whisper and won't leave me alone until her request is granted. I don't complain because I love eating it, too, mixed in chocolate shake. Yummy! I am actually having a chocolate shake with Tapioca pearls right now. It's a left over from earlier's snack. I can eat this over and over again. So delicious! What can I say?

Once upon a time...

Image
...there's a kid who enjoyed being in the Mall of Louisiana's playland. And since there's no drums in the said place, she made her own in the presence of the ladybug. When sliding time came, she pulled her mama off the chair to be of help while she climbed up to the tree slide. "Weeeeeeee..." she said while sliding down the tree slide, again and again and again. Done with the tree slide, she then dominated the other slide, the bee slide and sat on the steps for awhile impeding the flow of the traffic. LOL. Came lunchtime and she ain't done  playing. She wanted to stay but her Dada and Mama were  hungry as well as the the place was crowded with big kids occupying most of the toys. The lil girl agreed to eat with her parents. Later on, she forgot about going back and didn't bother to ask anymore.

Philips Livable Cities Award

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of goviral . All opinions are 100% mine. If there is one thing that I wanna  wish big time, it would be   for the children of today and tomorrow to come to have a healthy planet to live in.  I am aware how much pollution Mother Earth is suffering right now. We, humans are tearing down the gift of life and only few are working hard in the preservation of such. I live not too far from the city, thus, I am too close to every negative aspects it brings, hence, my health and well-being are kinda affected as well as my family's. It bothers me a lot but I can not do anything for now nor I can not think of solutions to share to the public on how to make this place a better for my children but I have something to share that would surely make a huge change especially to the people living in the cities around the world. In behalf of the Philips Livable Cities Award, I am inviting you, you with solutions in mind to help in the improvemen

Would you buy this set?

Image
Tell me how much would you pay for this set? Are you willing to pay the asking price of $1000? A thousand dollars for this old and not in good shaped furniture? Tsk! Ok, I found this one listed on Craiglist. So what do you think? I am just hoping that nobody bit this crap. I frequent Craiglist  hoping I could find a great deal on furniture. Normally, the flow is smooth when I see items on sale that are priced perfectly according to its condition. Of course, there are crashers that ruin the party,  sellers  who are so selfish, pricing their stuff like it's brand new and never used. Heck! Now I am again browsing the site.  So far, I see no scams or spams which is a great thing. I see a couple of things that I want but can't get yet...

The beauty of virtual dating

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Smingle.com . All opinions are 100% mine. Four years ago, I never thought I would meet someone whom I'm gonna spend my life with through thick or thin. I was into so much stress with work when he came in and colored my days with red. Yes, I tried  virtual dating with a  hope that I could find  the happiness and satisfaction that I was looking for a partner. That stage in my life was not a waste because at an instant, that special someone came to my door telling me how much I mean to him and all. Love blossomed through the internet. Now, I am married to him for three years with a toddler that hypers the day. I must say that virtual dating is now a trend. Forget about phone dating, blind dating or any means of dating because the world is now run by computers. The beauty of virtual dating is that  it offers a lot of options and it is safe. According to THS investigates, virtual dating "technology is extremely women-friend
